Imago is a housing project in Planteringen, Helsingborg, focusing on the transformation of an existing neighborhood. The project reuses and adapts existing buildings to create 6 townhouses (100 sqm each) and 14 apartments (33 sqm each), designed for flexibility and future change. By recycling materials and enabling future reuse, the project promotes sustainable living and a circular lifestyle.
The site was identified as a problematic area due to poor safety and closed-off structures. By removing an existing warehouse and adding new buildings, the project opens up movement and sightlines, creating a safer and more welcoming environment. The plan centers around a communal courtyard where all entrances face inwards to encourage interaction among residents. Shared spaces are placed along the edges of the site to strengthen the sense of community.
